On January 26, 2025, the city of Rock Hill, South Carolina, played host to an exciting event, the Preseason All-State North, organized by Prep Baseball of South Carolina at The Hit Mill. This event is not just any showcase; it’s a stepping stone for young baseball prospects, highlighting their skills and preparing them for prestigious invite-only competitions over the summer.

Players from the graduating classes of 2025 to 2028 gathered to show off their talents. The day featured a variety of activities focused on different skills, giving players a chance to display their abilities in a constructive and competitive environment. It was a chance for the athletes to shine and for scouts to identify upcoming stars.

Professional-Style Workouts

During the event, position players went through a series of professional-style workouts. Infielders and outfielders took to the field to field ground balls and show off their arm strength. The throws were measured using a Stalker radar gun, which added an official touch to the evaluations. Catchers didn’t sit idle either; they were evaluated on their throws to second base, focusing on both their arm strength and pop times.

Meanwhile, the hitters engaged in a swing analysis session utilizing Blast Motion technology, which provided essential data on their batting techniques. The air was filled with excitement as the players launched balls, their trajectories recorded using TrackMan. Not only did they get feedback on ball flight, but speed and explosiveness metrics were also captured using Vald Performance lasers, timing their sprints over 10 and 30 yards and assessing their vertical jumps.

Pitching Performance

The pitchers truly showcased their skills during a controlled bullpen session. Each pitch was tracked by TrackMan, which allowed for detailed analysis of ball movement and performance metrics. This data is crucial for players working to refine their craft.

Statistical Highlights

As part of the event, several statistical achievements were recorded that highlighted the players’ performances. For the 30-yard dash, standout performances included Brayden Simpson from Broome High School, who clocked in at an incredible 3.69 seconds. His performance not only secured him the top spot but showcased his impressive speed.
