One of the highlights came from the No. 3 ranked Northwestern team, who absolutely rolled past South Florence with a score of 48-7. They jumped out to a jaw-dropping 34-0 lead by halftime, proving they were ready and focused. Quarterback Finley Polk had a sensational game, completing 18 of 28 passes, for a whopping 290 yards and five touchdowns! Talk about an impressive showing!
Polk connected with his favorite target, Kameron Vance, seven times for an impressive 140 yards, including three of those touchdown catches. Northwestern certainly showcased their strength, and it has fans excited for next week’s big city showdown with South Pointe!
Not to be outdone, the No. 7 ranked Hough Huskies showed their prowess in a dominant 41-0 win against Carolina Forest. Senior Jycen Anciso had the game of his life, rushing 14 times for 125 yards and finding the end zone twice! It was a real team effort, with Jamison Funderburk also contributing two rushing touchdowns.
On the defensive side, Edward Conover was a beast with eight tackles, and Cameron Cyr stood out with his three sacks, making it clear that the Huskies were ready to vie for the title.
In a match that had the community buzzing, the South Pointe team didn’t disappoint as they decimated Ballantyne Ridge with a score of 63-0. This commanding performance definitely set the bar high! The players are surely riding high on confidence as they prepare to face Northwestern next week.
But Rock Hill wasn’t the only place celebrating this weekend! A mix of victories and close games were reported across the region. Clover also put on a spectacle, achieving a 48-12 victory over Palisades, while Indian Land took care of business against Andrew Jackson with a score of 39-21.
Down the road, Lewisville had a stunning performance of their own, shutting out Atlantic Collegiate with a decisive 54-0 win, which is truly remarkable! Meanwhile, River Bluff narrowly edged out Nation Ford with a 35-30 victory, confirming that every game is a battle.
