Rock Hill Schools Back in Session Following Delay
Students and Staff Prepared for Morning Classes
Rock Hill, S.C. – After a powerful storm passed through York County on Saturday, Rock Hill Schools announced that classes would resume on Wednesday, April 24, but with a two-hour delay. This decision allows extra time for buses, staff, and families to travel safely to school.
The storm caused significant disturbances, bringing strong winds and even hail, resulting in fallen trees and powerlines. Some vehicles and homes sustained damage, particularly a gas station awning that was torn down. However, it was confirmed that there was no tornado in the area, despite wind speeds reaching between 60 to 90 mph across a stretch from northwest to southeast.
Due to the ongoing recovery efforts and safety inspections, half-day Pre-K classes at Ebinport, the Central Child Development Center, and ATC will be cancelled for Wednesday. Schools are taking necessary precautions to ensure the wellbeing of students and staff as they transition back to normal operations.
