The call came in around 1 p.m., and upon arrival, officers discovered a woman who had sustained gunshot wounds to her hand and head. In close proximity, the body of a man was found in a car, the apparent victim of a shooting.

Injuries and Fatality

The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, was promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment. Tragically, the man has been identified as 31-year-old Lawrence Howard of Rock Hill. His body was examined by the York County Coroner’s Office, which confirmed that an autopsy and a toxicology report will take place next week.

Suspect Details

On Monday, Rock Hill Police arrested 35-year-old Melvin Robinson. He was initially charged with possession of a firearm by a person previously convicted of certain crimes. Following further investigation, additional warrants were issued against him, including charges for murder, attempted murder, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

According to preliminary reports, the shooting occurred while the two victims were seated in their vehicle. The shooter allegedly opened fire before fleeing the scene, raising concerns about the suspect’s whereabouts. To date, Robinson is the only person in custody related to this case.
