ROCK HILL, S.C. — Two individuals are currently recovering in the hospital following a shooting incident that occurred on Thursday. The event unfolded in the 700 block of Patriot Parkway, which is located west of Interstate 77 and south of Cherry Road.
According to the Rock Hill Police Department, the two victims had arranged a meeting with the intent to engage in the sale of THC vapes. During this encounter, a suspect entered the victim’s vehicle and displayed a firearm, allegedly with the purpose of robbing the victim.
Authorities have identified the suspect as 17-year-old Ervin Jackie Stephan Myers. Following the robbery attempt, a struggle ensued over the weapon, resulting in both the victim being shot in the abdomen and the suspect sustaining an injury to his arm.
The confrontation took place in the peaceful area of Patriot Parkway in Rock Hill. It was on Thursday that the police responded to the reported shooting at this location.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the motive behind the incident was robbery. The suspect allegedly intended to steal from the victim during their meeting related to THC vape sales.
Both individuals involved in the incident were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries. The conditions of the victims have not been publicly disclosed. As for Myers, the Rock Hill Police Department has charged him as an adult with multiple serious offenses, including attempted murder, attempted armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.
Once Ervin Jackie Stephan Myers is discharged from the hospital, the police plan to formally serve him with the warrants related to these charges. The community is reminded that such incidents are taken seriously, and law enforcement is working diligently to address them.
