The San Francisco 49ers have been busy making changes to their roster this week. In a series of announcements, the team confirmed several signings and player releases as they prepare for the upcoming season.
One significant move was the signing of wide receiver Robbie Chosen to a one-year deal. Chosen, standing at 6 feet 3 inches and weighing 185 pounds, comes with a wealth of experience, having played for teams like the New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals, and the Miami Dolphins over his eight-year career. He has participated in a total of 120 games, starting in 86, and has recorded impressive stats, including 379 receptions for 5,082 yards and 30 touchdowns. Last season with the Dolphins, he played in nine games, achieving four receptions for 126 yards.
To make room for Chosen, the 49ers waived/injured wide receiver Frank Darby. Darby had joined the team just a few weeks earlier on July 27, 2024.
In addition, the 49ers have signed multiple players to one-year deals, including defensive lineman Jonathan Garvin and punter Pressley Harvin III. However, the team also placed defensive lineman Austin Bryant on injured reserve and released tight end Logan Thomas.
More changes occurred as the 49ers signed safety Tracy Walker III and wide receivers Jontre Kirklin and Malik Turner, all to one-year deals. The team has also placed several players on the physically unable to perform lists, including Drake Jackson and Trent Williams. Furthermore, wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, a first-round pick, has been signed to a four-year contract.
These roster moves reflect the 49ers’ commitment to strengthening their team as they head into the rest of the season. Fans will be watching closely to see how these new additions perform on the field in the coming weeks.
