On Sunday, November 3, 2024, the city of Sedro Woolley witnessed a thrilling high school football matchup as the Sedro Woolley Cubs put on a dominant performance against the Mountlake Terrace Hawks. The Cubs, representing the second-place team in the 3A Wesco North, cruised to a commanding 40-0 victory over the Hawks, who were the second-place team in the 3A Wesco South.
This annual crossover game was an important stepping stone for both teams as they head into the state round of 32 playoffs next week. With this win, Sedro Woolley improved their record to 7-2, while Mountlake Terrace now stands at 6-3.
Looking ahead, the Cubs will face Central Valley in the playoffs, while the Hawks travel to Eastside Catholic for their next game. Both matchups are scheduled for Friday, November 8, with Mountlake Terrace’s game kicking off at 7 p.m.
In other 3A league action, the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors overcame the Marysville Getchell Chargers with a score of 35-21, bringing Edmonds-Woodway’s season record to 3-6. The Chargers now sit at 2-7.
Meanwhile, the Jackson Timberwolves dominated their game against the Lynnwood Royals, securing an impressive 71-7 victory. This win marks Jackson’s record at 6-3 while Lynnwood continues its struggle at 0-9. Lynnwood will have a chance to break its streak as they prepare to face Everett on Friday at 5 p.m. at Edmonds-Woodway High School.
The Stanwood Spartans also had a significant win against the Meadowdale Mavericks, with a score of 52-3. The Spartans now own a record of 5-4, while Meadowdale falls to 3-6. Meadowdale has a matchup against Snohomish planned for Friday at 8 p.m. at the same venue.
