South Carolina High School Football: Eight Undefeated Teams Shine in Latest On3 Massey Ratings

Columbia, South Carolina – The latest On3 Massey Ratings, released on September 18, showcase the current landscape of high school football in South Carolina, highlighting that eight out of the top ten teams are still undefeated. These rankings, which are based on game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory, feature two teams from South Carolina within the nationwide top 100.

Leading the charge is Northwestern, the top-ranked team, which has managed to significantly improve its defense after allowing 71 points in their first two games. In their latest matchup against South Pointe, they only gave up 14 points and saw Finley Polk throw for two touchdowns, while Zymier Gordon-Miles rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown. They face Nation Ford on September 20 for a chance to go 5-0.

In second place is Dutch Fork, boasting the best defense in the state after allowing just seven points across three games. With back-to-back shutouts, this team is on a roll, thanks to strong performances like Ethan Offing’s two touchdown passes and Maurice Anderson’s 149 rushing yards. Dutch Fork will challenge Oceanside Collegiate Academy on the same day as Northwestern.

The Irmo Yellowjackets sit at number three after producing a dominant 55-7 victory over Carolina Forest. Aaron Brand Jr. delivered a standout performance with 377 passing yards and four touchdowns. They have a substantial 96 percent chance of winning their next game against Myrtle Beach.

Gaffney, ranked fourth, came off a shutout victory thanks to Jayvon Gilmore’s three touchdown passes. They are set to face tough competition with Boiling Springs at 14th and Spartanburg at seventh in the following weeks.

Westside, holding fifth place, has made a strong case with impressive performances against ranked opponents, scoring 50 points in their last two games. Their upcoming game against Prince Avenue Christian is scheduled for September 20.

Hillcrest, now at sixth, improved to 3-0 after a close victory over Greer, while Spartanburg, ranked seventh, looks to bounce back with a game against Eastside, also on September 20.

Rounding out the top ten are Summerville and T.L. Hanna, who will wrap up their September schedules against tough matches this month. Summerville maintained their perfect record with a narrow victory, while T.L. Hanna continues to battle for a better ranking with a game against Greenwood.

As the weekend approaches, the excitement grows as these top teams look to maintain their winning streaks and solidify their standings in this competitive high school football season.
