In South Jersey, high school football kicked off with some thrilling performances in Week 1. Fans were treated to a variety of standout players making big impacts on their teams, leading to exciting victories.
Sayvien Adams from Rancocas Valley started the season strong, guiding the Red Devils to a 44-20 victory over Pleasantville. The junior quarterback completed 6 of 10 passes for 198 yards and three touchdowns, already bringing his total to four passing TDs in the first two games.
Meanwhile, Tyrone Baker of Timber Creek played a pivotal role in a hard-fought 27-24 win against Notre Dame. This junior quarterback showcased his versatility, rushing for 100 yards and two touchdowns while throwing for 178 yards and two additional scores, including a clutch 98-yard touchdown to Quadir Baldwin in the final moments of the game.
In other highlights, Colin Beeler of Washington Township had an impressive outing with 157 rushing yards and three touchdowns, helping the Minutemen secure a 28-7 win over Pennsauken. Beeler is averaging 5.6 yards per carry this season.
Back to the ground game, Murad Campfield from Cherokee racked up 208 rushing yards and a touchdown during a 27-10 victory against Lenape, marking over 2,000 career rushing yards.
Defensively, Nick Medina of Holy Spirit stood out with a strong showing, registering three sacks, six tackles, and an interception as the Spartans shut out Oakcrest 39-0.
Even more impressive was Demetrius Williams from Clayton, who shattered school records with 323 rushing yards and five touchdowns during a 47-6 win over Mastery. With 528 yards and eight touchdowns in two games, he has dominated the early part of the season.
