Rock Hill’s Anthony Baxter, J’Zavien Currence Headlining South Pointe’s CBS Sports

Rock Hill (S.C.) South Pointe is proudly showcasing the talents of standout players Anthony Baxter and J’Zavien Currence, along with Malik Clark who are considered among South Carolina’s top prospects. This exciting trio has been catching the attention of various colleges and their recruitments continue to gain momentum.

Anthony Baxter: A Master in the Making

Anthony Baxter, a rising junior interior offensive lineman, has been making considerable noise in the recruitment sector. This talented player added South Carolina and Virginia Tech offers to his resume in January, followed by interest from Duke, Kentucky, and Cincinnati. Despite playing in different positions – center, guard, and tackle within his team, Baxter (6-3, 330) is seen as a future guard at the college level.

“His athletic ability for his size is his biggest strength,” South Pointe head coach Bobby Collins proudly mentioned. “If you see him do ladders or bags, you’d see he’s got great feet for his size and age.”

Following a visit to Clemson, Baxter revealed his impressions of the Gamecocks and the Tigers. “Clemson was a great experience,” Baxter said. “I liked how close the coaches are with the players, and just the atmosphere of the place.”

J’Zavien Currence: An Emergent Cornerback

J’Zavien Currence, who ranks as 247Sports’ No. 32 overall prospect and fourth-ranked corner for 2026, has been snagging offers from several leading colleges including South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Oklahoma among others. Collins shared that Currence (6-2, 194) intends to visit Texas A&M this month.

“He’s wide open right now,” Collins reported. “He’s humble… If you see him walk around school, you wouldn’t think he’s the guy with 30-plus offers. He’s got straight As in the classroom. He’s blue collar.”

Malik Clark: A Speedy Wide Receiver

Last but not least is Malik Clark, a Class of 2025, 6-foot-2, 180-pound wide receiver. Clark’s explosive speed and talent have earned him offers from South Carolina, Duke, and N.C. State, among others. He recently visited Clemson and has his eyes set on future visits to N.C. State, Tennessee, and South Carolina this spring.

Complementing his on-field capabilities, Clark also boasts track and field credentials, placing fifth in the 100-meter dash and seventh in the 200-meter dash in Class 5A. He plans to settle on a decision by the upcoming fall season.
