SUGAR LAND, Texas – The Texas High School Basketball Hall of Fame is set to welcome a talented group of eight new members into its fold with the Class of 2025. This exciting announcement was made on August 14, 2024. The inductees include four outstanding coaches and four remarkable players, all of whom have made significant contributions to the game of basketball in Texas.
The induction ceremony will take place on May 10, 2025, at the Hilton San Antonio Airport Hotel during the annual Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) Clinic. This year’s class is full of individuals who have left a lasting impact on high school basketball.
The coaching inductees are Tommy Aldridge, Pamela Crawford, Stan Leech, and Danny Nix. Meanwhile, the player inductees include Krista Gerlich, Greg Kite, Darryn Shearmire, and LaQuan Stallworth.
Johnnie B. “Hawk” Carter, the Executive Director of TABC, emphasized the group’s excellence, stating, “These eight men and women have left a lasting legacy on the high school hardwood with their victories, records, and honors. They have also been great off-the-court ambassadors for basketball both within and outside the state of Texas.”
Each inductee has an impressive record of achievements. For example, Aldridge coached for 35 years, winning 977 games and claiming numerous district championships. Similarly, Crawford recorded over 700 wins during her coaching career and earned multiple Coach of the Year awards.
Among the players, Gerlich shined as a three-time All-State player and was part of the Texas Tech team that won the 1993 NCAA Championship. Kite, a former McDonald’s All-American, enjoyed a successful NBA career, winning championships with the Boston Celtics.
The upcoming Hall of Fame Banquet and TABC Clinic promise to celebrate not only the achievements of these individuals but also the overall growth of basketball in Texas. For more information about the events, interested fans can visit the TABC website or contact the organization directly.
