Lexington County, South Carolina – A fatal hit-and-run accident occurred Saturday night, resulting in the death of 25-year-old Madelein Lopez-Resendiz. The incident took place just after 7:00 p.m. on Hartley Quarter Road, according to officials from the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Lopez-Resendiz, a resident of Pelion, was walking west along Hartley Quarter Road when she was struck by an unidentified vehicle. This collision happened near the intersection of S.C. 302. According to Cpl. Nick Pye of the Highway Patrol, the vehicle was also traveling west on Hartley Quarter Road at the time of the tragic event. Tragically, Lopez-Resendiz succumbed to her injuries at the scene, as confirmed by Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher.
The driver of the responsible vehicle fled the scene immediately after the incident and has yet to be identified. No additional injuries were reported in connection with the accident, but investigators are actively seeking information to find the driver.
