In a fascinating display of technological intersect, former President Donald Trump sat down with tech multi-billionaire Elon Musk for an intense and comprehensive interview on X, an up and coming media platform. This has emerged at a crucial time when Vice President Kamala Harris is effectively ignoring the media since her imminent ascension to the top of the Democratic ticket for the presidency.
“It’s a sad thought that someone who does this for a living can’t answer a question or is afraid to do an interview, and in her case, with very friendly interviewers,” said Trump during his almost two-hour discussion with Musk on X Space last night.
This statement was noting the fact that Harris has effectively avoided the media for 22 days. She has sidestepped formal press conferences and sit-down interviews, including for a significant cover story for a well-known weekly news magazine. This occurred after she arose as the nominee for the Democratic Party for the Presidency following President Biden’s crippling exit from the race last month.
“She is considered more extreme, by a considerable margin, than Bernie Sanders. She’s a radical left ideologue. If she’s going to be our President, very soon you’re not going to have a country anymore. She will return to all things she believes in. She supports defunding the police; she believes in zero fracking,” Trump expressed about Harris.
Trump’s interview with Musk started around 8:30 pm, after a “massive” distributed denial-of-service attack on the platform, which caused delays – a fact revealed by Musk on X. Nevertheless, the interview garnered attention from over 1 million people who tuned in to listen, according to the live tracker during the conversation.
The interview held took a laid-back approach, where Musk presented the topics to Trump, allowing the 45th president to expand on policy issues. These included immigration, an assassination attempt on his life last month, the spiraling inflation, and the Department of Education’s potential closure in favor of states taking the reins on school systems.
Among the widely discussed topics was the present situation of immigration in the U.S. “I believe over 20 million people have entered our country. Many from jails, prisons, mental institutions, or insane asylums. Many are terrorists. And they’re coming not just from South America. They’re coming from Africa, Asia, and the Middle East,” Trump shared with Musk, who has endorsed him earlier this year.
Trump also brought up Harris’s recent rhetoric to address the spiraling crisis at the border, asserting in her and Biden’s terms, despite having had years to address migration, “won’t do anything.”
During the discussion, Trump recounted the close call he had with an assassination attempt by shooter Thomas Crooks last month at a rally in Pennsylvania. In this he credited a slide show his campaign made, showing immigration stats, for saving his life.
“That slide — illegal immigration saved my life,” he told Musk. “Isn’t it incredible? I only used the chart less than 20% of the time,” he added.
