Trump Victorious in South Carolina Presidential Primary Shortly After Visiting Rock Hill

Indeed, yesterday was a historical day for Rock Hill, South Carolina when the former President, Donald Trump, secured a triumphant win in the Republican Presidential Primary just a few hours post his address to the crowd. Trump obtained almost 60% of the state’s votes, which amounted to nearly 452,000 votes. But, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley managed to gather about 40% of the total votes, representing nearly 298,000 votes. Although Haley faced defeat in her home state, she did signal her will to continue her presidential campaign.

How Did the Voting Turn Out?

The voter turnout at the state level was approximately 23%, representing nearly 757,000 ballots cast. The Tri-County area saw Trump securing a significant victory. In York County, he garnered 58% of votes, in Lancaster County he achieved 61% of votes, and in Chester County, he managed an overwhelming 78% of the votes. Despite facing loss in these counties, Haley managed to secure her win in Richland, Charleston, and Beaufort counties.

Trump’s Visit to Rock Hill

The Winthrop Coliseum, which has a seating capacity of 6,100, saw an enormous crowd gathering to listen to the former president’s address. There were even some who had camped out since Thursday night just to secure their seat. Many who couldn’t get a seat had to settle for listening to the speech from outside the coliseum. This was Trump’s first visit to Rock Hill since his 2016 presidential campaign. He expressed his gratitude towards the city for its role in his political journey.

Trump’s Address and Supporter’s Reactions

In his one-and-a-half-hour address, Trump touched upon several pressing national issues including border security, inflation, and the escalating crime rates in cities. The crowd reciprocated with their opinions on these matters, showing their complete support for the former President.
