ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — A brutal midday auto crash claimed the lives of two people and left three others injured, according to state regulators. The tragic incident took place on Monday afternoon, marking a devastating day for the largely peaceful county and prompting further investigations by authorities.
The collision occurred at around 12.13 pm at the intersection of U.S. Highway 301 and La Quinta Drive, just a couple of miles north of Orangeburg. State troopers reported that a 2017 Nissan Altima, headed south on the highway, met head-on with a 2010 Honda Odyssey van traveling in the opposite direction, leading to catastrophic consequences. Both drivers were declared dead at the site of the accident.
Emergency medical services swiftly arrived at the scene and dispatched the injured passengers—two from the sedan and one from the van—to nearby medical facilities for urgent treatment. The severity of the injuries suffered by the survivors remains undisclosed at this time.
