Vermont High School Football Season Starts Strong

Vermont kicked off its high school football season with a series of exciting games and impressive performances. As the fall season gets underway, schools from around the state are bringing their A-game, delivering thrilling matches that are sure to keep fans on the edge of their seats.

This week’s highlights include a dominant victory for the University of Vermont, which defeated Harvard with a convincing score of 5-0. Star player Marcell Papp shone brightly by netting two goals, securing the win and extending Vermont’s unbeaten streak to six games. Team camaraderie was evident as Maxmilian Kissel scored one goal and assisted another, while Sydney Wathuta, Nash Barlow, Connor Thompson, and David Ismail contributed significantly.

Continuing with the trend, Spaulding edged past U-32 in a nail-biting match, prevailing 1-0 with Eden White scoring the only goal of the game. The efforts of goalkeeper Izzy Lobb, who made six crucial saves, were instrumental in maintaining the tight score.

Missisquoi made a statement by narrowly defeating Harwood 2-1, with Rowan Gregory and Surelle Casperson scoring the winning goals. Casperson’s highlight came in overtime, making a triumphant return from injury to lead her team.

St. Johnsbury showcased their skills, dominating Milton with a score of 5-1. Several players, including Maggie Langlais and Aven Thomas, made contributions to the score sheet. Likewise, Champlain Valley and Burlington marked their territory by sealing decisive victories in their matches.
