Vermont Launches 2024 High School Fall Sports Season with Thrilling Matches and Standout Performances

Vermont kicked off its 2024 high school fall sports season with a flurry of activity across various sports including soccer, field hockey, volleyball, golf, and cross-country running. Exciting matchups and standout performances highlighted the week, setting the stage for a thrilling season ahead.

In soccer, the Burlington team delivered an impressive victory against St. Johnsbury with a score of 8-2. Quinn Sessions emerged as the star of the game, netting 2 goals and providing 1 assist. Kade Ladner also contributed significantly with 2 goals and 1 assist, demonstrating a strong team effort from Burlington.

Meanwhile, Mount Abraham secured a solid win against Fair Haven, finishing 2-0 with Louisa Painter scoring just 26 seconds into the match and Isla Underwood adding a second goal shortly after. The defensive performance was strong as well, with Rosemary Behounek making 3 saves.

On the field hockey front, Windsor edged out Fair Haven with a narrow 1-0 win, thanks to Olivia Dube’s lone goal, providing excitement and a crucial win. In another matchup, Enosburg squeaked past Missisquoi, 1-0, driven by Ava Wedin’s goal.

As the week continued, more games are on the horizon including matches featuring Mount Mansfield at Essex and Colchester visiting Middlebury, both kicking off at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
