The 2024 Vermont high school fall sports season began with exciting games on various fields across the state. Fans gathered to support local teams, with action in soccer, field hockey, volleyball, golf, and cross-country running. In soccer, the Montpelier squad triumphed over Missisquoi with a score of 3-1. Regan Walke delivered an impressive performance, netting two goals, while Emily Tringe contributed three assists. On the other side, Missisquoi’s Surelle Casperson managed to score once.
Milton defeated Lyndon 2-0, with Saj Sanders scoring one goal and providing an assist. The Milton defense proved strong, not allowing any penalty corners from Lyndon.
St. Johnsbury also celebrated a victory, beating North Country 2-0. Molly Kimber and Meredith Roy scored the goals for St. Johnsbury, both coming from penalty corners.
Another notable game saw U-32 dominate Harwood, winning with a decisive 6-1 score. Hannah Drury led the charge, scoring two goals and adding an assist.
In field hockey, BFA-Fairfax achieved a convincing 4-0 win against Winooski, highlighted by Paige Cargill’s two goals and one assist in the game. Meanwhile, Essex topped Burlington 5-2, with Grace Symula shining with three goals.
South Burlington edged out BFA-St. Albans 2-1 in an overtime thriller, with Katie Williams clinching the victory just minutes into the extra period.
