In girls’ soccer, the Rice Green Knights celebrated a strong start on their new turf, dominating Essex with a score of 4-0. Violet Clough and Kate Larkin each netted two goals, while Maryann Nunn contributed with three assists. Essex’s goalkeeper, Sophia Krauss, put in a commendable effort with 22 saves.
South Burlington showcased their skill in an impressive 8-0 win over Middlebury. Multiple players scored, including Oli Roy with two goals, and Grace Landerman who also added a goal and an assist. Their goalkeeper, Amber Rousseau, had three saves to secure the shutout.
Fair Haven achieved a convincing 5-0 victory against Woodstock, highlighted by Leigha Kretzer, who scored a hat trick in the first half. Goalie Kate Hadwen earned her 25th career shutout.
On the volleyball court, Essex triumphed over Burlington with a solid performance, scoring 3-0 in sets. Hannah Knickerbocker led with five kills and 17 digs. Colchester also secured a 3-0 victory against Montpelier, demonstrating strong teamwork throughout the match.
As teams settle into the season, several matches are lined up that promise to be thrilling. Tonight’s games include Springfield at Brattleboro and Mount Mansfield at Colchester at 4:30 p.m..
