Rock Hill, S.C. – Miracle League of Rock Hill swings into action as it girds up for its most significant season yet. The league has set out a clarion call for volunteers to fill in multiple roles from buddies, coaches, umpires, to game day volunteers to make this exciting season a grand success.
City leaders have organized two training sessions to prepare interested volunteers. The sessions are scheduled on Saturday, February 17th from 10 AM until 11:30 AM and Wednesday, February 28th from 6 PM until 7:30 PM at the Williams Room in Fewell Park, located at 1204 Alexander Road, Rock Hill.
Miracle League of Rock Hill is an inclusive baseball program for children and adults with mental and physical disabilities. The main objective of the league is to allow everyone, regardless of their capabilities, to have the chance to play baseball. To achieve this commendable aim, the league relies heavily on its dedicated volunteers.
Buddies are needed to assist the players on the field, up at bat, and around the bases. Coaches are required to lead the teams with patience and enthusiasm. Umpires will oversee the games, while game day volunteers perform various tasks including setting up the field, announcing the games, and tending to concession stands.
The league believes in the power of volunteering and the positive impacts it can have on both the volunteer and the community. Not only do the volunteers gain an enriching and rewarding experience, but they are also crucial in fostering a positive environment where those part of the Miracle League can flourish.
Interested volunteers who are uncertain or new to this cause need not worry as city leaders have arranged a couple of training sessions to get all volunteers well-versed with the game, the roles, and acquire essential skills. The sessions will also cover rules and regulations that must be adhered to, ensuring both a fun and safe environment.
Volunteers get to decide whether they can commit for the entire season or just a few games and are encouraged to mark one of the two training dates on their calendars. Chosen volunteers will need to fill out an application and get a background check.
Initiatives like the Miracle League of Rock Hill tether communities stronger by promoting inclusivity, understanding, and respect among its residents. They allow locals to give back to their community in a fun and engaging way, all while making a profound impact on the lives of those participating in the league.
Stepping into volunteer shoes is an excellent opportunity for individuals to learn about the varied and unique experiences of those around them. Moreover, it gives volunteers a sense of accomplishment, knowing that they’ve contributed to the joyousness and positive spirit of the league’s players.
With the new season ready to take flight, Miracle League is enthusiastic about welcoming volunteers on board. The city leaders and players are optimistic and excited about another incredible season of baseball where everyone wins.
