Hello, North Carolina! If you’re ready to enjoy some classic fall festivities and thrilling events, you’re in for a treat this weekend. With the autumn vibes in full swing, let’s take a stroll through some of what’s happening in our wonderful state.
Kicking things off, we have SCarowinds in Charlotte, where spooky season is officially upon us, starting this Friday the 13th! The park has transformed into a delightful frights paradise with haunted houses, eerie mazes, live performances, and spine-chilling scare zones. Just imagine wandering through the park as bloodthirsty vampires and zombies lurk around every corner, waiting for their next unsuspecting guest!
For families looking for something less terrifying, don’t worry! On Saturday, September 14, SCarowinds will host its “Tricks and Treats” event. This is perfect for the little ones and anyone seeking a more family-friendly atmosphere. Kids can enjoy rides, pumpkin decorating, a lively parade, and even a Halloween costume contest! Remember to bring a bag for collecting candy on the “trick or treat trail.” This fun-filled event runs from 12 PM to 6 PM—don’t miss it!
Next up is the whimsical Autumn at Oz in Beech Mountain! For those ready to sing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” this enchanting event takes you down the legendary yellow brick road. Here, you can meet beloved characters like Dorothy, Glinda, and even the Wicked Witch!
With live performances, tasty treats from food vendors, and charming face painting stations, you’ll need to wear your comfiest shoes because there’s a bit of walking involved. And if you’re up for it, hop on a chairlift for a breathtaking view of Oz from the Over the Rainbow Overlook. Autumn at Oz will be open for just two more weekends, so grab your tickets while you can!
If you’re craving some fair food and carnival rides, look no further than the N.C. Mountain State Fair in Fletcher! With over 30 exciting rides and an array of delicious fair food, this event is sure to please anyone’s taste buds. Plus, you can enjoy the Mountain Music Festival happening right alongside the fair!
Admission starts at just $5, and the gates will be open from 9 AM until midnight on Saturday and until 9 PM on Sunday. You’ll find plenty of fun and entertainment waiting for you over on Fanning Bridge Road!
Also soaring into the weekend is the Balloon Festival in Burlington! From September 13-15, keep your eyes on the sky as colorful hot air balloons take flight. Cedarock Park will be buzzing with excitement, featuring a car show, live entertainment, food, and craft vendors.
Make sure to arrive early because the festivities kick off at 7:30 AM and go until 9 PM. It’s a fantastic way to embrace the beauty of the autumn season up in the skies!
Music lovers won’t want to miss the CAROLINA DAZE Music & Arts Festival at the Red Hat Amphitheater in Raleigh! With a lineup that showcases the amazing talents of artists like Janelle Monae and Tierra Wack, this festival is a celebration of the sounds of North Carolina.
Doors open at 3 PM, and the show will kick off shortly after. Grab your tickets starting at $25 and get ready for an unforgettable afternoon filled with music!
If you’re down in the Outer Banks, you can join the festivities of Pridefest, celebrating LGBTQ diversity and inclusion! Taking place at Roanoke Island Festival Park, this festival is filled with entertaining performances, local bands, tasty food, and fun games.
The main festivities run from 11 AM to 5 PM on Saturday, with a special drag brunch happening Sunday. Although brunch requires a ticket, many of the events throughout the festival are free to enjoy!
