Charlie Evans led the charge for Winthrop with an impressive performance, going 3-5 at the plate with a run, four RBIs, and a three-run homer. The pitching decision fell to Brett Wozniak (7-1) for High Point, while Owen Sarna (4-4) took the loss for Winthrop. Cael Chatham secured the save, his fifth of the season.
High Point took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, powered by RBI doubles from Cael Chatham and Charlie Klinger. Winthrop quickly responded in the second inning as Charlie Evans tied the score with a three-run blast to left center field.
In a back-and-forth affair, High Point reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the second inning, but Winthrop surged ahead with a three-run rally in the third. However, High Point answered with another three runs in the fifth inning to regain a 7-6 advantage.
High Point extended their lead with a four-run outburst in the sixth inning, ultimately solidifying their victory. Despite a late push from Winthrop in the eighth inning, High Point’s lead proved to be insurmountable.
