Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop University is proud to announce Marrissa Gasaway and Mason Tucker as the Comporium Student-Athletes of the Month. These talented individuals have shown exceptional skill and dedication in their respective sports, earning well-deserved recognition for their achievements.
Mason Tucker received the prestigious title of Big South Conference Golfer of the Week for his outstanding performance at the Wexford Intercollegiate in Hilton Head Island, S.C. Tucker’s impressive display on the golf course resulted in his first collegiate victory, tying for first place with an even-par 216. He showcased his prowess by finishing as the top performer among the 30 Big South competitors in the tournament and leading in par-5 scoring at -4. Tucker’s remarkable feat included nine birdies and a final-round surge to clinch a share of the 54-hole lead.
Marrissa Gasaway demonstrated her basketball prowess by playing and starting in all seven games Winthrop University participated in during the month of February. With an average of 11.7 points and 11.9 rebounds per game, Gasaway proved to be a key player for the team. Her standout performance in the game against High Point where she recorded a double-double of 18 points and 18 rebounds highlighted her exceptional skills on the court. Gasaway’s consistent performance throughout February, including multiple double-doubles, solidified her reputation as a top student-athlete at Winthrop University.
