Eagles Set to Face Presbyterian College in Exciting Road Challenge to Maintain Winning Streak

Eagles Prepare for Road Challenge at Presbyterian College

Clinton, S.C., January 9, 2024

Winthrop University’s men’s basketball team is gearing up for an exciting road challenge as they face off against Presbyterian College on Wednesday night. Having won their first two games in the Big South, the Eagles are confident and ready to make it a 3-0 start.

The game is set to take place in Clinton, South Carolina at the Ross E. Templeton Center, and it promises to be a captivating matchup. The Eagles have had a strong start to the season, currently standing at 10-6. In contrast, Presbyterian College enters the game with a 5-9 record, hoping to earn their first Big South win.

A Winning Streak Continues

Winthrop is currently enjoying an all-time high conference road record of 147-142, as well as a solid string of three consecutive regular season conference road victories. Any hurdles are not expected to deter the Eagles, who have triumphed in 29 of their last 37 league road games.

On the heels of back-to-back thrilling overtime victories against Longwood and USC Upstate respectively, the Eagles are looking to continue their winning streak. A win on Wednesday will mark their first 3-0 start to league play since the 2021-22 season, and only the fifth time in the past six years.

A Strong Roster

The Eagles’ success can be largely attributed to their strong roster. Nick Johnson, Kasen Harrison, K.J. Doucet, Kelton Talford, and Chase Claxton are among the players expected to start. All five players are having commendable seasons and are anticipated to deliver a strong performance on the court.

These athletes’ combined prowess, along with the team’s impressive strategising and execution, has made Winthrop a force to be reckoned with in the Big South Conference. If their continuous winning streak and robust athletic performance is anything to go by, this upcoming match will be nothing short of exciting.

The Road Ahead

Following Wednesday’s game, Winthrop will return home to host Radford on Saturday, January 13. Fans eagerly anticipate these matches, hoping for both thrilling games and more victories for the Eagles.
