Rock Hill, South Carolina, is buzzing with excitement as Winthrop University gears up to launch its very first doctoral degree program along with a slate of intriguing undergraduate offerings in the fall of 2024. This is a monumental step for the university, marking an evolution in its over 139-year history as an institution committed to education.
Winthrop’s flagship addition, the Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) in Leadership and Innovation, has officially received the green light from the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education. This program is designed to push the boundaries of conventional learning, diving deep into the realms of learning, leadership, and organizational change. It aims to equip aspiring leaders with the tools they need to tackle real-world challenges, and students will even have the opportunity to conduct dissertation studies on actual issues they encounter.
In tandem with the new doctoral program, Winthrop is also embarking on a quest for reclassification from a Level 3 to a Level 5 institution by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
