Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop women’s basketball head coach Semeka Randall-Lay has unveiled the team’s 2024-25 schedule, featuring a 13-game non-conference lineup before diving into Big South Conference play.
The Eagles will kick off the season with a road game against Georgia Tech on Monday, Nov. 4, followed by their home opener against Paine College on Sunday, Nov. 10. The team will then embark on a three-game road trip, including matchups against Queens, Wake Forest, and UNCW.
After Thanksgiving, Winthrop will face off against North Florida and Johnson and Wales at home before heading to Puerto Rico for back-to-back neutral site games against American and Air Force.
Returning to the U.S., the team will wrap up their non-conference schedule with four games in December, including matchups against South Carolina State, Charlotte, North Carolina Central University, and a showdown against Tennessee in Knoxville.
During the 2023-24 season, the Eagles finished with a 14-16 overall record and an 8-8 record in Big South Conference games. The team achieved significant milestones under Randall-Lay’s leadership, including key victories and player accolades.
The Eagles’ roster includes standout players such as Marissa Gasaway, Jada Ryce, Ronaltha Marc, Leonor Paisana, and Blessing Okoh, who will bring experience and skill to the upcoming season. The team also welcomes new additions to the coaching staff and several talented incoming freshmen and transfers.
With a mix of seasoned veterans and fresh talent, Winthrop women’s basketball is poised for an exciting 2024-25 season. The team’s non-conference schedule promises thrilling matchups and opportunities for the Eagles to showcase their skills on the court.
