WPIAL High School Football Championships Set for November 23 at Acrisure Stadium

Pittsburgh, PA – The excitement for high school football is reaching its peak as the WPIAL playoffs are set to conclude on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Accrisure Stadium. Four championship games are lined up, showcasing some of the top teams in their respective classes.

In the Class 5A Championship at 8 p.m., Pine-Richland (11-1) will battle Peters Township (11-1). Both teams have had impressive seasons, making this matchup highly anticipated by fans and players alike.

The Class 3A Championship is also expected to be thrilling, as Avonworth (10-3) faces off against Central Valley (7-5) at 5 p.m. Earlier in the day, the Class 2A Championship will kick off at 2 p.m. featuring Seton LaSalle (11-0) going up against South Park (11-1). And to start the day, the Class A Championship will take place at 11 a.m. with an impressive matchup between Fort Cherry (13-0) and Clairton (13-0), both undefeated this season.

Additionally, the PIAA playoffs are in full swing with the quarterfinals scheduled for Friday and Saturday. In the Class 6A bracket, Central Catholic (10-2) will take on State College (11-1) on Friday night at Forest Hills.

For the Class 5A quarterfinals, games include Bishop McDevitt (11-2) versus Exeter Township (12-1), and Roman Catholic (9-4) going up against Hollidaysburg (13-0), both scheduled for Friday evening.

The weekend’s matchups will not only determine the champions for WPIAL but will also set the stage for the next round of the PIAA playoffs. Fans are encouraged to come out and support their teams as the action unfolds with high hopes and competitive spirits.
