YORK COUNTY, N.C. – A frantic vehicle pursuit unfolded on the roads of Rock Hill in York County Wednesday morning, leading to the capture of two men and the recovery of a firearm, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.
The chase was initiated after a vehicle allegedly ran a stop light on Cherry Road. Following a high-speed pursuit that saw the suspects weaving in and out of traffic, the chase came to an end on I-77, near the Carowinds Boulevard exit. Law enforcement officials identified the apprehended individuals as 22-year-old Emmanuel Davis and 23-year-old Jihad Davis.
During the course of the chase, a gun was reportedly thrown from the suspects’ vehicle. The firearm was subsequently retrieved by the deputies involved in the chase with no reported injuries.
Jihad Davis’s charges include reckless driving, failure to stop for blue lights, driving under suspension, and possession of marijuana. Emmanuel Davis, on the other hand, was charged for having an open liquor container in a moving vehicle.
While the suspects were quickly apprehended, the incident has raised questions about the origin of the gun and the motivations behind the suspects’ actions. An official investigation is ongoing as law enforcement authorities try to piece together the full story.
This is a developing story. More information will be added as it becomes available.
