Heads up, York! The long-awaited Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade has been rescheduled! Originally planned for Saturday, January 18, the event has been moved to the 25th—all thanks to Mother Nature deciding to pour some rain on our parade. With only a few days left until the new date, excitement is definitely in the air!
The parade will kick off at 1 p.m. on January 25, and it promises to be a *fantastic* celebration. Organized by the Western York County branch of the NAACP, this event has become a beloved tradition in our community, celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. and his incredible legacy. The parade has been running for an amazing 44 years—can you believe that? Even before Dr. King Day became a federal holiday!
As the parade makes its way along East Madison Street and toward Jefferson Field, attendees can look forward to a vibrant display of more than 100 entries. Expect exciting performances from college marching bands, inspiring voter registration drives, and much more! You’ll definitely want to swing by the vendors and stage shows as they promise to add even more festive flair to the day.
Even with the change in schedule, the spirit of the event remains unchanged. There’s a strong focus on fostering community relationships, reminding us all that the parade is not just about celebration but also about coming together as one. Everyone is encouraged to come out, have a good time, and honor the legacy of Dr. King through unity and love.
